Bengaluru TCS Campus Faces Disruption Amidst Bomb Threat, Former Employee Suspected

In a concerning incident at Tata Consultancy Services‘ (TCS) Think Campus in Electronic City, Bengaluru, employees were evacuated from the premises following a bomb threat. The threat, reported in the B block of the campus on a Tuesday morning, was later revealed to be a hoax. Local media indicated that the threat was allegedly orchestrated by a disgruntled ex-employee based in Hubli who was upset about being laid off.

Upon receiving the bomb threat, employees were swiftly evacuated from the office premises as a precautionary measure. Authorities in the Parappana Agrahara area were promptly informed, leading to the dispatch of a bomb disposal squad and a dog squad to assess the situation. The police are actively searching for the Hubli-based woman accused of making the hoax bomb threat in retaliation against the company.

This incident is not the first time TCS has faced such a situation. In May, a similar bomb threat occurred at TCS‘ Kondapur campus in Hyderabad. An unidentified caller had made the threat, causing the evacuation of approximately 1,500 employees. Subsequent investigations confirmed it to be a false alarm, allowing employees to return to their work once the premises were declared safe.

The recurrence of such incidents highlights the challenges companies face in managing security concerns, particularly in the context of heightened emotions linked to layoffs. While the authorities are diligently addressing these situations, it underscores the need for organizations to navigate sensitive employment matters with transparency and empathy to mitigate potential risks and disgruntlement among former employees.
