EY India’s Ambitious Plan: Accelerating AI Hiring and Engaging Young Talent

EY India, a prominent professional services organization, has announced the launch of Techathon4.0, the fourth edition of its flagship college campus challenge. This year’s Techathon is centered around the theme of Generative AI (GenAI), with a focus on leveraging AI technologies to address real-world challenges and drive transformation across various industries.

The competition invites students to tap into EY’s proprietary technologies to develop GenAI-based solutions that can revolutionize sectors such as Healthcare, Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI), Education, Retail, and Media & Entertainment. Participants will have the opportunity to work on solving complex problems and gaining valuable hands-on experience in AI.

One of the key incentives for participants is the chance to intern with EY, offering them a practical pathway to apply their skills in a professional setting. Additionally, winners of the competition will receive cash prizes, with the first-place winner awarded INR 3,00,000 and the second-place winner receiving INR 2,00,000.

Mahesh Makhija, Technology Consulting Leader at EY India, expressed the organization’s excitement about the potential of Gen AI and its commitment to fostering tech-driven innovation. He highlighted the importance of transitioning from single-use cases to organization-wide GenAI deployments to create lasting value.

EY India has significantly expanded its tech talent pool, with a remarkable increase in campus graduate intake over the past year. This surge in talent acquisition reflects EY’s dedication to nurturing fresh talent from top colleges across various business domains.

The company’s focus on expanding its talent pool aligns with its growing Technology Consulting practice. In the last six months alone, EY India has recruited over 1,300 graduates from campuses.

This year’s Techathon explores the disruptive potential of Generative AI, a technology reshaping the future of work and gaining substantial adoption in the business world. Aspiring participants are encouraged to register their teams and problem statements, with the opportunity to win cash prizes, mentorship from industry leaders, and the chance to intern with EY India.

Past winners and runners-up have emerged from esteemed institutions like PES University, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Shailesh J Mehta School of Management, KJ Somaiya College of Engineering, Thadomal Shahani Engineering College, and Vellore Institute of Technology.
